Contemporary Jazz. Year-Round.

Timișoara Jazz Festival is a curatorial platform dedicated to contemporary jazz. Since 2006, we have developed projects that bring together music, research, cultural heritage and education, exploring how they can foster new forms of dialogue between artists, audiences and communities.

Over time, the festival has evolved from an annual event into a year-round cultural platform. Every project begins with a curatorial idea and is shaped around a specific context—a place, a theme, a collaboration or a question that can be explored through music.

The platform brings together concerts, artist residencies, interventions in heritage spaces, research initiatives and cultural mediation programmes. These projects are developed in collaboration with artists, cultural institutions and independent organisations from Romania and abroad, contributing to an ongoing dialogue with the European and international contemporary jazz scene.

We believe that music cannot be separated from the context in which it is created and experienced. For this reason, each project seeks to create experiences that extend beyond the concert format, inviting audiences to discover, reflect and participate.

Timișoara Jazz Festival is a space for encounters—between artists and audiences, between tradition and experimentation, between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic practice. More than a sequence of events, it is a platform that builds relationships, encourages collaboration and supports the ongoing development of contemporary jazz throughout the year.
