For Robinson Khoury, Mediterranean musical traditions are not a distant reference, but part of the material from which he builds his music today. The French trombonist and composer draws on his Middle Eastern roots and ancient modal scales to create a contemporary form of jazz in which acoustic instruments meet modular synthesizers and electronic processing.
MŸA brings together Khoury, percussionist and vocalist Anissa Nehari and pianist, keyboardist and vocalist Léo JassefThe trio works with particular attention to texture and rhythm, while the voice plays an important role in shaping the music. The album MŸA, released in 2024, gave the trio its name and established a distinctive voice within France’s emerging jazz and border-crossing music scene.
In 2026, the trio returns with Transara, an album built around the idea of moving between different worlds and states of being. If MŸA established the project’s direction, the new album develops it in a more organic form, with greater attention to the relationship between voice, rhythm and electronic space.
