Three years of research at Garden505 Studio in Berlin laid the groundwork for 505’s debut album, the project formed by multi-instrumentalist Daniel Calvi and electronic artist Mattia PreteThe two start from groove and improvisation, then work the sound until acoustic instruments and electronics become difficult to separate. The result has a strong cinematic quality, with passages that can evoke noir atmospheres or classic westerns.
The debut album was released in February 2026 and is the result of this extended period of research. The recordings gradually build their atmosphere, while sound design plays a role as important as the performance itself. For 505, the studio is not simply where the music is recorded, but part of the compositional process.
Improvisation remains central to the live performances, where Calvi and Prete can continually reshape the format and work with other musicians. After appearances at Montreux Jazz Festival and concerts across Europe and Japan, 505 comes to Timișoara with music that is difficult to place within a single genre, yet immediately recognisable in the way groove and electronic texture support one another.
